Hassira palm straw mat, 2.1*1 m

These extremely original mats, called “Hassira” in Morocco, are made from straw
obtained from palm leaves, carefully separated and dried then subsequently woven and embellished with colored wool threads.

They are created in the rural areas around Khmisset, where the artisans have impressive talent. Processing is difficult and requires great manual skill. Now the average age of the expert craftsmen of "Hassirate" is around 50-60 years and there is no generational turnover. Therefore these fascinating mats are increasingly rare.

Our straw mats bring nature indoors and

They are easily cleaned with a broom or brush. If you need to clean a specific stain, you can use a sponge moistened with cold or lukewarm water and soaked in a delicate detergent.

If you wish to use a vacuum cleaner, we recommend using the brush usually supplied as an accessory to clean carpets and choosing a low power.
