Rugs that look like no one else’s

Some homes stay with you. They have a quiet way of saying who lives there. A handcrafted rug is part of that language.

We are Jihane and Matteo, and since 2021 we have been selecting and creating Moroccan rugs, working directly with the women and cooperatives who make them, in full respect of local traditions. We choose every piece one by one, so that what reaches your home carries a true story, shaped by hand, matter and time.

Bespoke or custom-designed rugs, made for your space

What you see here is only the starting point. When the right rug does not exist yet, we create it together: around your space, your taste and your colours.

Long or short pile wool, flat-woven kilim, subtle or bold schemes: we guide you through every choice, starting with colour. With the RAH test, you can discover the palette that feels most like you, inspired by your happiest memories.

The result will be a meaningful piece made around you, for a space that could belong to no one else.

Happy clients, happy homes

You can’t help but love Casa Amar and its founders, Jihane and Matteo. Their showroom has an incredible selection of rugs, from mats to Boucherouite pieces, all sourced from Morocco and each with its own story. Jihane and Matteo’s passion is contagious, and the care they put into their relationship with customers is obvious. If you’re looking for a beautiful rug, you’re in exactly the right place. We will definitely be back.

Not only did we buy a beautiful Moroccan rug, we were also completely won over by the Casa Amar team, Matteo and Jihane. They shared their love for their land and told us how their search for these pieces takes them even into the most hidden valleys of Morocco, helping support small cooperatives. Thank you for such a wonderful buying experience!

Gabriella

I came across this little gem by chance and was immediately won over by the website, the philosophy behind the brand and the products themselves. Super fast delivery, completely plastic-free packaging, two fantastic rugs and two equally beautiful cushions. I married a Moroccan man and know Berber craftsmanship well, which I absolutely love, so I can honestly say Casa Amar does things properly, in every sense. Keep going exactly like this.

Claudia

It was love at first sight with the rug for our daughter’s bedroom, simply perfect!

Francesca

I bought a rug for my daughter’s room. Her joyful reaction confirmed what I already knew: things made with love bring a kind of pure happiness. The ethical side of what I buy matters a lot to me, and with Casa Amar I feel completely at ease. Jihane and Matteo quite literally bring poetry into our homes! See you soon for the living room!

What can I say? I set out to buy one rug and ended up buying three. I really love the quality of the rugs and the fact that each one is unique. I also found the website genuinely helpful and very well done. I absolutely recommend Casa Amar.🌸

We bought a rug for our living room and fell in love with it straight away from the photo because of how unique it was, but receiving it at home was even more emotional. Excellent quality and excellent service. This rug has brought a sense of joy, warmth and elegance into our flat. A rug to live with every day. Thank you, Casa Amar.

Discovering Casa Amar one morning after breakfast on Via Pestalozzi was love at first sight. Jihane and Matteo have an incredible passion, grace and calmness, and you can feel it both in the way they search for rugs and in the way they guide you towards the ones that seem made for you, discreetly but always in real sync with you. Lovely people. Truly well done, thank you.

Sonia

A beautiful showroom run by two warm and generous souls. Jihane and Matteo’s knowledge and sense of purpose are deeply admirable, and their products come directly from the artisans, which means the makers are valued as they should be. Wonderful rugs, poufs and cushions that tell stories and bring warmth to any space. Unbeatable value for money, with human connection put first!

When you walk into a shop and are offered tea, you immediately understand you are in a place that knows how to welcome people and truly listen. Getting to know Matteo and Jihane’s work and commitment was a real pleasure. They were both extremely thoughtful in introducing me to the fascinating and complex world of Amazigh rugs. Their help in choosing the right rug was also invaluable: Matteo and Jihane even offered a home trial so we could be sure it was the right one for me and for my home.

Jacopo

When you choose well, you feel it

You know exactly where it comes from
We live and work in Morocco, sourcing and creating rugs directly with the women who craft them and with local cooperatives. Not at the end of a long chain of middlemen, cheap labour and industrial shortcuts.

Beauty with substance
Pure wool, palm straw, recycled fabrics, ancient techniques. The women behind each piece are paid fairly for their work, and every rug carries the mark of a hand, a material and a tradition no machine can replicate.

A choice you can stand behind
Everything is made in Morocco and chosen with care. These are rare objects with history in them, made to be lived with and to hold their value over time.

Much more than a Berber rug

* On the term "Berber rugs": what’s worth knowing

Misleading • because the word "Berber" has a derogatory origins. We prefer the term Amazigh, meaning free people: the right and respectful name for the indigenous peoples of Morocco who shaped the history of rug making in this country.

Reductive • because many of the artisans we work with are Amazigh, but not all. This is why we describe our rugs simply as Moroccan rugs: made in Morocco, across different territories and traditions.
