We know that it is not usual to insert a fine and handmade rug in the bathroom. Mainly because usually in this environment the aim is to have maximum functionality, therefore ease of cleaning. This is not the case with our rugs: even if their maintenance is simple, the natural materials they are made of cannot be machine washed as often as synthetic ones. Placing one of our rugs in the bathroom is essentially an aesthetic choice that puts style and taste before any other criteria.
For this reason we want to leave you some tips and ideas.
If you are looking for a bath mat to place outside the shower or next to the tub, we recommend a Boucherouite in cotton or mixed fabrics, under which we recommend adding a non-slip mesh underlay. Hanbel or "kilim" rugs, flat-woven, can be a great choice, but it is essential to remember that water and humidity are the enemies of wool! Again, it is essential to complete them with a non-slip backing. For a natural look, plant materials such as straw and wood are especially suited to bathrooms decorated in a Mediterranean style, but also Japanese, Japandi, or boho or rustic-chic. Here, the earthy colors such as brown, terracotta and ochre of a Saharan mat will form the perfect palette. In a Mediterranean (or Moroccan) style bathroom, do not be afraid to dare with a mix of blues, reds and oranges of a splendid Taznakht. While the nautical style of a beach house will call out for the use of light blue in shades such as emerald, turquoise, teal, and petrol green or olive with its references to the warm and fragrant hinterland. The rustic, country and Provençal styles will benefit from an accessory such as a shaggy rug in thick wool, in shades of white, lavender and pink. In a Scandinavian-style bathroom we imagine a Nordic palette of whites, blacks, greys and beiges.
It is essential to remember that wool and natural materials fear humidity, so you must try to keep them dry and, if wet, let them dry as quickly as possible.
