Akhnif Rugs
Akhnif rugs are handmade Moroccan flatweaves from the Taznakht region, known for their fine, repeated embroidered motifs and their quietly ordered look. Small geometric patterns arranged on mostly plain grounds give these rugs a refined, balanced presence that works beautifully in both traditional and more minimal interiors.

Origin and identity
Akhnif rugs belong to the weaving tradition of the Taznakht region in southern Morocco. They are handmade flatweaves, recognised for a more regular and measured decorative language than many other Moroccan rugs.
Patterns and construction
Their most distinctive feature is the micropattern: small, often symmetrical geometric motifs repeated across mostly monochrome grounds. The result is a rug that feels precise, rhythmic and highly refined.
Colour and material
Akhnif rugs are often found in natural, neutral tones, although stronger background colours do exist. The wool is traditionally dyed using natural plants and pigments, creating shades that remain closely tied to the landscape and culture of the region.
Why they work so well in contemporary interiors
Because of their fine patterning and compositional restraint, Akhnif rugs work particularly well in modern and minimalist homes. They have presence without becoming intrusive, and decoration without excess.
