How it is made
This Kharita runner is a long, narrow kilim rug(called hanbel in Morocco) with a confidently decorative look. Neat rows of raised, hand-embroidered Amazigh motifs - diamonds, chequerboards and zigzags - run across a sandy beige ground. The palette is warm and earthy, lifted by small accents of white, black and sky blue. The weave is fine yet dense, exactly what you expect from a well-made, long-lasting kilim.
Perfect for…
Its slim 170 × 70 cm format is ideal for finishing a hallway and subtly guiding the eye through the home. It also works beautifully in an entrance to welcome guests with calm tones and a creative touch. In the kitchen, place it along the worktop; in a large bathroom, in front of a double vanity; in the bedroom, as a bedside rug on one side of a double bed. The warm, neutral base pairs effortlessly with wood floors, cement tiles, traditional terracotta and majolica, stone and contemporary resin.
The detail not to be missed
Softly irregular edges, raised embroidery and a subtle abrash in the ground (natural results of hand-dyeing and weaving) are the maker’s signature, and what make this Kharita runner rug unique.
