"Kilim" is a word with Turkish roots (with a Persian variant, gelim گلیم), and its history travels far beyond Turkey, to the Balkans, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and China. In Morocco, kilim-style pieces are less widespread than pile rugs, so finding distinctive examples is part of the thrill.
