Sleep starts from the ground up
A rug in the bedroom changes the room in immediate, tangible ways. It softens the feel of the floor underfoot, adds warmth, helps reduce heat loss and absorbs some of the noise that can make a space feel less calm. In everyday life, this means a more comfortable sleeping area: quieter, softer and more pleasant to live in from morning to night. It also means something very simple but deeply satisfying: a soft landing in the morning, instead of the shock of a cold floor.

Beauty matters in the bedroom
A bedroom is not only a practical space. It is also where we begin and end the day, so the atmosphere matters deeply. This is why we travel across Morocco in search of one-of-a-kind Berber, Amazigh and Moroccan rugs, selecting versatile pieces for homes that feel modern yet layered with refined details. Waking up and seeing a beautiful rug first thing in the morning, then stepping onto a fine textile such as a soft Beni Mrirt or a vivid Azilal, is a small daily pleasure that changes the tone of the whole room.

How to place a rug in the bedroom
There is no single rule, only layouts that work better depending on the room. A medium-to-large rectangular rug at the foot of a double bed can help define the area in front of the bed, especially if there is a wardrobe opposite. Larger rugs under the bed add texture, colour and a stronger sense of completeness to the sleeping area, especially in master bedrooms. If you simply want to avoid the shock of a cold floor in the morning, bedside rugs or bedroom runners may be all you need. Short-pile rugs, long-pile rugs and flatweave kilims can all work beautifully, depending on the mood you want to create, whether for master bedrooms or guest bedrooms.

Colours for a calmer or more expressive room
Colour also plays an important role in the bedroom. If you are drawn to a softer, more restful atmosphere, shades such as dusty pink, pale blue, sage green and other muted tones work beautifully in the sleeping area. Neutrals such as white, black, grey, beige and taupe also help create a room that feels visually balanced and easy on the eyes.
But this is not the only possible approach. If you prefer a warmer, more expressive interior, earthy reds, ochre, brown and multicoloured rugs can also feel completely at home in the bedroom, bringing warmth, depth and personality. The right choice depends less on rigid rules and more on the kind of energy you want the room to hold.

A rug that feels personal
Some people want the bedroom to feel quiet and understated. Others want it to feel textured, cocooning and full of character. Moroccan handmade rugs allow for both. Whether you choose a minimal design, a bold geometric pattern or a more vibrant colour story, the result is never generic. Each rug carries the subtle irregularities, material richness and presence of something made by hand and that makes all the difference in a room as personal as the bedroom.
